Cerro Narra Mountain horseback - This is an exceptional horseback riding tour, for those who want to make the most of their vacation time in Costa Rica , get a glimpse of Costa Rican life, and learn about the tropical rainforest as you ride through it. Cerro Narra Mountains foothills are located 10 miles from Quepos and Manuel Antonio. We offer full day and half day tours for your convenience. Both tours include meals, as well as transportation to and from your hotel. Our guides are fully bilingual and knowledgeable about the local wildlife, vegetation and ecosystems. They will also gladly answer any question you may have about Costa Rican lifestyle, culture and history. Both tours are suitable for all ages and for those than "never rode a horse before" - Beginners- to experienced riders. As our special guests, you can expect the best of Costa Rican hospitality in warm and friendly setting.

 

Full day tour: After a full typical Costa Rican breakfast, we mount up and ride into the Cerro Narra Mountains through lush rainforest. There is a lot of wild life in this unspoiled area. We may be able to see monkeys, sloth, anteaters, tepescuintle, jaguarondi and other small mammals, as well as beautiful birds and butterflies.

After about 1½ hours of riding, we come to an awesome 350-foot waterfall. Here we dismount and relax at our comfortable rancho in the rainforest which also has a modern sanitary restroom / changing room. The rancho overlooks a large crystal clear natural swimming pond in the river. Enjoy swimming here as well as at the waterfall, taking photos and snacking on fresh tropical fruit. The return ride down the mountain is just as beautiful and adventure-filled, and when we return you're treated to a healthy Tico-style lunch, all beverages included, in a relaxed family atmosphere.

 

Half day tour: Is a good choice for those who want to ride for less time, have other activities planned for the day, have small children, or want to ride over easier terrain. Arriving at our ranch/restaurant you will enjoy a delicious full breakfast, then we start out on horseback, riding through tropical rainforest in the Protected Zone of the Cerro Narra This area is inhabited by many species of small animals, colorful birds and butterflies. We ride deep in to the rain forest to a beautiful waterfall. At the rancho here you can enjoy swimming in the pristine waters at the base of the falls. There are many photographic opportunities and time to relax, surrounded by the full beauty and sounds of the rainforest. Upon our return to our ranch/restaurant you are served a wholesome traditional tico lunch, including all beverages. Half day tours can be scheduled for the early afternoon if desired. In substitution for breakfast, we serve beverages and a fruit plate before the tour, and dinner when you return.


Canopy Safari - The objective is to provide tourists a unique activity and ecological experience while at the same time helping to aid in the preservation of the world's endangered rainforest through direct financial support to conservation, education, and reforestation efforts. The canopy course is constructed so that there is very little impact on the sensitive ecological balance that exists in the rainforest. Our platforms, pulleys and cables are made of non-corrosive steel. Here at Canopy Safari safety is our top priority. We perform safety checks daily on all equipment including anchors, cables, and connections. Our harnesses, karabiners, and other equipment pass all standards set by the international association the ACCT. The trip begins with an amazing drive trough the tropical rainforest where you will have the opportunity to spot toucans, Tití monkeys, poison dart frogs and more tropical plant life than you could ever imagine. You will arrive at our ranch house set on a mountain side with a spectacular river in the back ground. Here you will be served breakfast or lunch depending on tour time. You will sail through the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy and over the trails far below. Expert guides will lead you in this exciting adventure into the heart of the rainforest, explaining what is going on around you. From the 9 exhilarating zip lines to the 3 pulse pounding rappel lines you guaranteed a thrilling adventure. To cool off after the excitement of the canopy we have a stunning river pool set right next to our restaurant. Here you play on the rope swings or simply relax in the water and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After your drive into the heart of the rainforest, you will arrive at our beautiful restaurant and we are sure that you will appreciate the recent changes. When you arrive at the restaurant we will have ice-cold water and juice waiting for you. Both breakfast and lunch are also served here. Our meals are served "all you can eat" buffet style, because you are to work up an appetite on the canopy course. Here we also have a full service bathrooms and a shower. After each tour we invite you to cool off at a fresh water river pool set right next to the restaurant.

Manuel Antonio National Park: is designated a humid tropical forest zone. There are primary and secondary forest, mangrove swamps, beach vegetation and marine reserves. The most characteristic species of flora in the primary forest are the guacimo Colorado, bully tree, cedar, locust "sura", black locust (a tree in danger of extinction), cow tree, "madrono," "cenizaro" and silk cotton tree. The mangrove swamp, which covers 44.5 acres, is composed of three species of trees: red mangrove, buttonwood mangrove and white mangrove. The beach vegetation consists mainly of manzanillo, which produces a milky extract, latex and poisonous berries; almonds, mayflowers and coconut palms. The most common wildlife seen are raccoons, white-nosed coatis, agouties, two-toes sloths, white-faced capuchin monkeys and squirrel monkeys (titi) (a sub-species of the park which is in danger of extinction). Birds in the area include toucanillos, fiery-billed acaris, brown pelicans, laughing falcons, black collared hawks, green kingfishers and northern jacanas. As well, there are plenty of iguanas, snakes and thousands of insects. The park is closed on Mondays. Follow our professional nature interpreter through one of Costa Rica 's most famous National Parks. Along this three hour moderate walk, the guide will open your eyes to the wonders of this tropical rain forest and its natural history. Expect to spot two or three species of monkeys, sloth's, white nosed coati mondis, agoutis, butterflies, iguanas and various birds. After the tour we suggest that you spend some time exploring the beautiful beaches within the park, so take along your bathing suit and beach towel.

Sport Fishing: One of the world's finest locations is Quepos . Marlins magazine recently just named Quepos one of the best location in the world for "all around action". In shore angling requires only a short run to the fishing grounds, is relatively inexpensive and offers great views of the coast. Expect lots of Rooster Fish, Dorado, Snapper and Mackerel to complete your catch. The offshore reef will provide good numbers of Amberjack, Black Marlin and all the Sail Fish you can imagine. Isla Damas Island Estuary Boat Trip - Costa Rica is blessed with a great number of ecological attractions. Among the most unique and picturesque are the mangrove canals of Damas Island . A pristine habitat that features caimans, boas constrictors, and over 100 species of local and migrating birds, Damas Island fulfills an important role as an ecosystem vital to Costa Rica 's rich bio diversity. It is not uncommon to spot herons, sand piper, egrets and many other endemic or migrant bird species. You may get the chance to see the white-faced monkeys up close and personal, or even see the rare silky anteater, all from the comfort of your boat. Located 20 minutes from most Manuel Antonio hotels, the Damas Island mangroves allow you to travel calm waterways, whit the dramatic backdrop of the spectacular Fila Chonta mountains. Rainmaker Biological Reserve: Rainmaker Conservation Project is located 22 kilometers from Quepos/ Manuel Antonio area, and 17 kilometers from Parrita. The Rainmaker visitors tours a carefully designed trail winding along the Rio Saco river bank, allowing the opportunity of viewing the natural habitats of the poison dark frogs, millipedes, Jesus Christ lizards, morpho butterflies and many birds species. This river walk culminates with a refreshing dip in a pristine pool feed by the pure water of the Rainmaker Mountain .


Sailing Tour- The Spanish Dancer is a 38 foot sailing catamaran that provides a leisurely tour of the waters around the Manuel Antonio National Park . Our sail boat is a roomy sailing cat. It is completely equipped with United States Coast Guard approved life preservers, marine radio, stereo system, snorkel equipment, and roomy trampoline. Our bilingual Captain and a biological guide lead all tours in the area. We have over 10 years experience operating in the Quepos area and carry full civil liability insurance.

Cruise to one of Manuel Antonio's great snorkeling reefs. Submerge beneath the tropical waters and enjoy the wonders of this undersea paradise. Learn basic snorkeling techniques from our professional trained guides and enjoy a tasty brunch of exotic fruits, fresh tuna salad, snacks and drinks. Learn the history of the park and the Quepos Indians. Passing the local islands will give you the opportunity to see different species of dolphins, whales, birds, and sea turtles that inhabit this beautiful coastline.

 

Afternoon Cruise:

The afternoon cruise includes the same great snorkeling and exploration of the reefs and Islands , the heritage of the Manuel Antonio Park and Quepos Indians, and the delicious food as the morning tour, plus spectacular sunsets! On both learning adventures, you have the opportunity to contribute to an international research project by identifying and counting the species of dolphins, whales, and sea turtles that you see on the tour. Both cruises offer great photo opportunities. Both tours are available on our 40 foot power boat or 38 foot sailing catamaran. Both tours include round trip hotel transportation, tropical fruits, fresh tuna salad, snacks, drinks, and snorkel equipment. Bring swimsuit, sun protection, and cameras.


Quad trax 4x4- The Fourtrax ATV tour is an unforgettable half-day excursion. Combining the thrill of 4-Wheeling while allowing you to get in touch with the regions natural beauty. You will start your adventure in Quepos along dirt roads through African palm plantations and typical Costa Rican farming towns, while along the way discovering waterfalls and natural springs. You will climb 1,000 ft. to the Cerro Narra surrounding yourself by panoramic views of Costa Rica's Pacific coast.


Butterfly Farm - Conveniently located on the road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. "The Nature Farm" is a 30 acres (12 hectare) reserve that was created by a local group of nature guides and the farm owners. Along its well-designed trails, you have a chance to spot some of the 100 plus bird species who make "The Nature Farm" its habitat, or come across our local tribe of Howlers, White-faced and the rare and endangered "Titi" (squirrel) monkeys, who utilize the reserve as their natural biological corridor. Quepos City Tour - The town of Quepos is named after the native chieftain "Quepos" and has earned a reputation during the last century as being a bustling Banana Town . Today, the remains of that long-gone era are found in "the American Zone." Later, Quepos became famous due to its proximity to the Crown Jewel of Costa Rica's National Parks System, Manuel Antonio National Park , and has also garnered a reputation as an incredible sport fishing Mecca . Downtown Quepos itself has a lot of things to offer. During the tour you will learn the main historical aspects about the ancient dwellers of the area and the social, economic and historical characteristics of the region. There will be a strategic stop at Quepos, where your local guide will accompany you to visit the Central Market and the main commercial area filled with gift stores, where you'll get handcrafts right from the local artisans.
