Area Information:GuanacasteIf you are a sun worshiper, and enjoy being on beautiful beaches, this is a perfect place for you. By large contrast, this region gets very little rain during the year compared to the rest of the country. The province of Guanacaste encompasses dry, wet and very humid forests, including the protected areas of the few remnants of the tropical dry forests which once extended from Mexico along all the Pacific coast, and which today has practically disappeared from the Mesoamerican scenery. The region of the north Pacific is a land of beautiful landscapes made up of bays, gulfs, hills splattered with forests and cliffs, panoramic routes, volcanoes, wild rivers, beautiful beaches of gray, fine dark, white and golden sands bathed by a blue sea of clear waters, rich in fishes and seashore birds, with mainly of gentle waves. The climate is very hot and dry during the summer, which tends to extend from December to April, and hot and humid during the rest of the year. The average annual temperature is 27,5ºC. Guanacaste is blessed with landscapes of plains and dusty dry coast from January to April and very green and wet during the rainy season. In this idyllic region the positive energy of the radiant sun, which shines long hours of the day, combines with the hot temperatures, inviting you to enjoy the warm waters and the blue sea. Visit the national parks while on the beach! is towered of volcanoes, beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, and friendly people! Whether your interest is eco-tourism, bird watching, adventure sports, fishing or just relaxing on an isolated beach. Hotel industry in Guanacaste has undergone a major growth during the last two years. With the aperture of important hotel chains like Melia Playa Conchal Resort, "All Inclusive" properties at the Gulf of Papagayo as Occidental Papagayo and the easy access by the Daniel Oduber international Airport located in Liberia just 45 min from Tamarindo, Flamingo or Conchal beach areas, the region can compete properly with international high standard accommodations and services. The five star 'All Inclusive" hotel Four Seasons just opened their doors in 2004, providing the most ultimate luxury accommodations in the Golfo Papagayo area.
Peninsula De NicoyaThis area on the Northwest Pacific coast is difficult to traverse because of the lack of paved roads; however, it's well worth the effort because it contains some of the country's best and most remote beaches. Try Montezuma , near the tip of the peninsula, it is a lovely, very laid-back paradise and a perfect destination to end your trip and relax.
