Dominical, Central Pacific Region
Sea Kayaking around the Dominical coastline is reason enough to make the trip to Costa Rica . There is nothing quite like paddling into a sea cave in a kayak, or riding a wave into the shore. You'll be able to explore caves where pirates once buried their treasure, and snorkel in the tropical Costa Rican waters. With good visibility, you'll probably see an endless variety of fish as well as turtles, whales, dolphins and seven different types of sea birds. Roca Verde guests have the option of having a sea kayak tour arranged for them right there in the hotel. Lunch or dinner is provided. No experience is necessary, and experienced kayakers will enjoy the tour as well. All kayaks are new and the guides have years of experience. Priority is given to safety and fun. A life altering experience; sea kayaking from Roca Verde.
Flight of the Toucan Canopy Tour - We are situated in the midst of some of the finest eco tourism on the planet. North and south of Roca Verde are some of Earth's most popular destination eco tourism. 10 minutes North is the Hacienda Baru Natural Reserve , that features several different rain forest tours including tree climbing & rappelling, zip lines through the jungle, and an overnight stay in the jungle. All of the activities are exciting, but perhaps the most memorable is the education. The guides are experts in nature and delight in sharing what they know about the miraculous oddities of the diverse life found in the Costa Rican rainforest. To the south is Corcovado and Drake Bay , one of the remotest and most pristine tropical natural environments on the planets. The area is fiercely protected and offers the visitor a once in a lifetime opportunity to view undisturbed rainforest animals and fauna in an undisturbed setting. The area also offers some of the best sport fishing around.
The Night in the Jungle Tour - We take you deep into the rainforest where you will spend the night in our jungle camp. In our opinion, this is the best way to experience the tropical forest at Hacienda Barú. After the hike up to the camp you can sit and relax on the verandah as the sun goes down and listen to the sounds of the jungle as the daytime animals and birds go to bed and the nocturnal ones come to life. There will be no-one else for miles around, as you will be in the heart of the refuge. After a traditional Costa Rica dinner you will venture out on a night hike in search of nocturnal creatures. Then to bed in the tented camp. After breakfast in the morning you will take another hike to see some magnificent old rainforest trees, then make your way back down to reception for around 10AM. The camp is equipped with a shower and toilet. All you need to bring is a change of clothes, personal items, water for the hike up and a flashlight.

Horseback ride to Nauyaca Waterfalls- is a Costa Rican family owned and operated tourist enterprise that has several years experience providing delightful horseback tours to a marvelous local attraction. The tours are through secondary and primary forest, culminating at two amazing waterfalls of the Barucito River . These wonderful waterfalls are one of the main attractions of the Southern Pacific of Costa Rica. The trip is well worth it not only for the natural beauty to be found, which provides the backdrop for unforgettable moments, but also due to the different outdoor activities to be done around the falls, like swimming, climbing the falls, jumping into the deep waters and bird watching. Our main attraction at Nauyaca are the natural swimming holes and majestic waterfalls. The falls are formed by two cascades that tower 150 ft. and 65 ft. above a sparkling, 20 ft. deep pool with 3.000 sq. ft. of surface area. There are other natural pools of less size, that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The tour starts every day at 8:00 a.m. at our office. From there you will mount your horse and follow your guide (or guides, according to the size of the group) on an exciting trail through the forest. Forty-five minutes later you will savor a delicious "tico" (Costa Rican) style breakfast at Don Lulo's house. After eating, you can see some exotic animals close up at the minizoo, as well as observe the abundant flora and fauna to be found around the house. After this satisfying experience, you will continue on horseback to the waterfalls, where you may stay and swim in the pools, climb the falls and jump into deep water until noon. On the trip back, you will stop at Lulo's house to enjoy a delicious "Tico" lunch before continuing to the office. Our family is waiting for you at Nauyaca Falls , where you will experience nature and enjoy a healthy environment.
